The CD Knights opened their Spring season with 2 games against the Mid State Mavericks and the Cedar Cliff Jr. Colts. In game 1, the Knights would score 11 runs on 7 hits and take the W 11-3 behind solid pitching from Roman Mock, Elijah Peterson, and Kayden Gelbaugh who pounded the zone all day.

 

"Those guys were good," said Tad McFadden, OTS Chief Knights Correspondent. "It was strike after strike after strike. Solid pitching."

 

Lucas Smith and Kayden Gelbaugh provided the offense the Knights would need driving in 6 runs total with Gelbaugh blasting a 2 run home run in the 3rd.

 

Solid defensive plays helped the Knights all game with key plays coming from LF Aaron Neidig, C Brady Zellers, and the highlight of the day, a 6-4-3 double play turned by SS Drew Grejda and 2B Santino Pellegrini. "Most beautiful double play I've seen," said McFadden, tearing up- from the cold and wind, not the beauty of the play. "No, this is from the play," Tad explained. It was breathtaking beauty.
