The OTS boys grinded out a win tonight 5-4 in pretty exciting fashion. With one outs and the bases loaded, Brady Zellers entered the game to face Paxtonia’s 1-2 and 3 hitters. OTS Rec Baseball Vice President of Operations, Skip Skipperson was at the game.
“Holy cow I was scared. All I could see happening was the other team scoring several runs to win,” said Skip. "Bases loaded and one out, no way they could win."
Well, Skip was wrong. "First time ever," he claimed. After an error on a ground ball scored one run, Zellers induced another ground ball and a heads up play by 3B Kale Kellander cut the run down at home to keep the score at 5-4. That brought up the 3 hitter with the bases juiced. After an outside fastball for a strike, Zellers snapped off two dirty curve balls that the hitter swung right over to win the game.
“Holy cow those were filthy pitches,” said Skip. “ I knew he wasn’t going to hit them.”
Kale Kellander started on the mound and was lights out scattering 5 hits and allowing 2 runs to go with 3 strikeouts. In another great defensive play, he and Zellers picked off a runner at 2B at a big spot in the 4th inning.
“Holy cow Kale can pitch,” exclaimed Skip. “Kid was wheelin' and dealin’.”
Kellander helped himself at the plate with 2 hits including a double and two runs. Zellers also scored two runs and Wayln John added one for the winners. Tanner Corbitt added an RBI single for team Red.
“Holy cow those guys can run the bases and score,” said the ole Skipper. “That was the best baseball game I’ve ever seen. I knew West Hanover would win from the start."
Apparently Skip hasn’t seen too many baseball games but tonight’s was definitely a good one. Team OverTime is now 1-0 on the year and will face off at some point very soon against another baseball team on a baseball field.
